Book review
This book is written by Austin Kleon. who is famous for productivity books. Austin has also written books that are New York bestsellers like steal like an artist and show your work.
In this book, the author talks about 10 ways to stay creative in good times and bad.
SUMMARY
- EVERY DAY IS GROUNDHOG DAY
The author said creative life is neither linear nor straight from point A to point B. We have little control over our life. we can’t predict our future or we can’t control our future. The only thing we can control is what we spend our days on.
“HOW WE SPEND OUR DAYS IS, OF COURSE HOW WE SPEND OUR LIVES”
– Annie Dillard
No matter with what mood your day has started the only matter is that you made your day successful at the end of the day. first thing first establish a daily routine. There will be good days or bad days. but when you have a daily routine then that tells you what to do next. when you don’t have much time, a routine helps you make a little time you have count. when you have all the time in the world, a routine helps you make sure you don’t waste it.
Make a TO-DO LIST’. That helps you be organized all day. Those who don’t know what to do list are then let me tell you when you plan your work before the day start and you write it down on paper to make a list of your full-day work, that we called them TO-DO LIST. But keep in mind that you, have not made a list of your small work, if you made a list of 15 or 20 then that will be overwhelming for you. just try to make a list of 4 to 5 only important work should be on a to-do list.
The author said to make a to-do list of everything like this weekend what are the things to do that excite me the most or what makes me happy most. Make a list of which book I should read, where I should go on vacation and what should I improve on a daily basis for that make list ” to learn list”. Even you know Leonardo da Vinci made ” to-learn” lists. He’d get up in the morning and write down everything he wanted to learn that day.
2. BUILD A BLISS STATION
Creativity is all about connection. you must be connected to share your work or Inspire others. But it is also about disconnection. For being a master in your work you must disconnect from the outer world. We must build a “Bliss station”. you must have a room, or a certain hour or so a day, where you don’t need to connect from the outer world. this is the place where can simply experience and bring forth what you are and what you might be. you must have a room or a certain hour. A bliss station can be just a where, but also a when. Not also a sacred time.
If you make a daily appointment to disconnect from the world so that you can connect with ourself.
